27 Pay Periods in 2027? Pay Date Calculator

Check whether your schedule has 26 or 27 paydays in 2027, adjusted for US Federal Reserve bank holidays. By R.K., Creator and Business Economics Analyst. Updated October 14, 2026.

Quick answer: A biweekly schedule that includes Friday, January 1, 2027 has 27 scheduled Friday paydays, from January 1 to December 31. But January 1 is a Federal Reserve holiday. If your employer pays on the previous banking day, that payment moves to December 31, 2026, and 2027 has 26 actual paydays. Your own count depends on your cycle and your employer’s holiday rule, so enter your payday below.

2027 example: a January 1 payday that moves into 2026

This example assumes a biweekly cycle scheduled for Friday, January 1, 2027, with that payday moved back to Thursday, December 31, 2026. The other dates continue every 14 days. Under those assumptions 26 paydays land in 2027, and July and December each have three. It is an example, not a universal employer calendar.

A cycle that includes Friday, January 8, 2027 has three scheduled paydays in April and October instead, which is why you should enter a payday from your own schedule.

What 27 pay periods in 2027 means for your paycheck

Biweekly pay repeats every 14 days. A year has 365 or 366 days, which is not a multiple of 14, so the number of paydays that land in a calendar year depends on where your cycle falls. A weekly schedule can have 53 paydays in some years. Semi-monthly pay follows two fixed dates a month, so it is a different calculation.

The date you receive money matters for cash flow and can matter for the tax year in which the payment is reported. An extra payday does not automatically raise your contracted annual salary, because employers handle salary, benefit deductions and retirement contributions differently. Confirm your own policy with payroll or HR.

How to get the most accurate result

  1. Start with a real payday. Use the scheduled date from a recent pay stub or your employer’s payroll calendar. If you enter a date that was already moved for a holiday, your cycle can be off by a day.
  2. Choose your employer’s holiday rule. The default moves a payday back to the previous banking day. Your employer or payroll provider may use a different rule.
  3. Check dates near December 31. The boundary note lists paydays that move into or out of the selected year, which explains why scheduled and actual counts can differ.
  4. Treat the money estimates as rough. Gross is actual paydays times your per-check amount. Deductions assume the same amount every payday. Taxes, benefit limits and employer rules are not modeled.
  5. Export and verify. Download the CSV or calendar file, or print the schedule, then check the dates against your official payroll calendar before using them for bills or contributions.

Frequently asked questions

Does 2027 have 27 biweekly pay periods?

It can, depending on your anchor date and holiday rule. The calendar has 53 Fridays, but January 1, 2027 is a Federal Reserve holiday. If a biweekly payday scheduled for January 1 moves to December 31, 2026, it is not a 2027 payday and the year has 26. Enter your own payday and holiday rule in the calculator instead of assuming every Friday schedule gives 27 payments.

What are the three-paycheck months in 2027?

They depend on your cycle. A cycle that includes Friday, January 8, 2027 has three scheduled paydays in April and October. A cycle that includes Friday, January 1, 2027 has three in January, July and December before adjustments, and moving the January 1 payday into 2026 changes which months have three actual payments. Use the calculator with your own date.

Does a 27th paycheck mean I earn extra annual salary?

Not automatically. The number of payments inside a calendar year is not the same as your contracted salary or the period in which wages were earned. Your employer’s pay policy decides how salary is spread across paychecks. Ask payroll how it treats a 27-payday year before you change a budget or retirement contribution.

Will benefits or 401(k) deductions come out of the extra check?

That depends on your plan and payroll setup. Some deductions come out of every paycheck, while others are set to reach an annual amount over a fixed number of pay periods. This calculator only multiplies the deduction you enter by the number of actual paydays. Check your benefits documents or ask payroll for the real rule.

Is biweekly the same as twice a month?

No. Biweekly means every 14 days, which gives 26 pay periods in most years and sometimes 27 paydays in a calendar year. Semi-monthly means two fixed dates a month, such as the 15th and the last day, which gives 24 paydays a year.

Is 2027 a 27-pay-period year for federal employees?

Not on GSA’s calendar. FedTools’ transcription of GSA’s published calendars shows 27 paydays landing in 2026 and 26 in 2027. Federal payroll providers use their own calendars, so confirm yours.

Does this calculator know my employer’s pay policy?

No. It does calendar arithmetic from the anchor date and holiday rule you choose, using Federal Reserve holidays for the bank-holiday options. It is not a payroll system, tax advice or an official calendar.
