Apple HomeView Apps: Spotify, CarPlay and What Works
Apple HomeView has no on-device App Store, but it supports built-in Apple apps and selected apps from a paired iPhone. Check the app categories, device requirements, regional availability and real cost of the wall-mounted model before buying.

Quick answer: Does Apple HomeView support Spotify?
Apple’s specifications say HomeView supports compatible third-party audio and video apps from a paired iPhone. Developer Steve Troughton-Smith demonstrated Spotify on a virtualized HomeView, and MacRumors reported the demo on November 2. That is promising evidence, but it is not a retail-device test or a guarantee for every Spotify feature. HomeView does not provide a general on-device App Store for installing arbitrary iPhone apps.

The 15 built-in Apple HomeView apps
Apple’s technical specifications list these 15 apps as built in to HomeView. They are not the same thing as apps that are made available from a paired iPhone.
| Built-in app | What it is for | Support type |
|---|---|---|
| Alarms | Alarms and wake-up routines. | Built in |
| Calendar | Household and personal calendar information, subject to privacy checks. | Built in |
| FaceTime | Video and audio calls over Wi-Fi. | Built in |
| Find My | Find My features and personal information when the user is authenticated. | Built in |
| Home | Control compatible Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories. | Built in |
| Intercom | Household announcements across supported Apple devices. | Built in |
| Messages | Personal messages when the enrolled user is recognised and device conditions are met. | Built in |
| Music | Apple Music playback, artwork and lyrics; subscription may be required. | Built in |
| Podcasts | Apple Podcasts playback. | Built in |
| Reminders | Personal reminders, subject to user recognition and device conditions. | Built in |
| Safari | Browse websites and web-based services. | Built in |
| Settings | Configure HomeView. | Built in |
| Timers | Multiple timers for household tasks. | Built in |
| Weather | Weather information and forecasts. | Built in |
| World Clock | Time across multiple locations. | Built in |
Important distinction: Apple’s list confirms the apps included with HomeView. It does not mean every personal feature is available to every person at all times; personal content has additional recognition and paired-device conditions.
Does Spotify work on Apple HomeView?
Apple’s specifications include a category called supported third-party audio and video apps. MacRumors reported on November 2 that developer Steve Troughton-Smith demonstrated Spotify on a virtualized HomeView build. The demonstration showed a CarPlay-enabled app interface appearing on HomeView from a nearby paired iPhone without a separate HomeView app installation.
What is supported by Apple’s documentation
- HomeView supports compatible third-party audio and video apps from a paired iPhone.
- Apple lists Audiobooks, Classical Music, News and TV as apps available from iPhone in US, UK, Canadian and Australian technical-spec pages.
- AirPlay multiroom audio and Handoff are listed product capabilities.
What still needs a retail-device check
- Spotify’s HomeView interface has been shown in a virtualized developer demo, not a retail-unit test.
- Apple has not published a complete public list of every third-party app that will appear.
- Do not assume Netflix, YouTube, games, browsers or every iPhone app will install or mirror.
What about the four Apple apps available from iPhone?
Apple’s US, UK, Canada and Australia technical-specification pages list Audiobooks, Classical Music, News and TV under “Apps Available from iPhone.” These apps are not the same as the 15 built-in apps.
There is a regional difference worth checking: Apple’s India technical-specification page currently lists Audiobooks, Classical Music and TV, but does not list News. Apple also warns that some applications are not available in all areas. Check the specification page for your own market before assuming every app is offered.
Apple HomeView price and availability by country
Both the tabletop and wall-mounted HomeView models have the same base device price in the markets below. The wall-mounted version requires separately purchased mounting and power accessories, so its installed cost can be higher.
| Market | Apple-listed price | Availability | Apple Store |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | US$299 | November 13, 2026 | Apple US Store |
| United Kingdom | £299 | November 13, 2026 | Apple UK Store |
| Canada | C$429 | November 13, 2026 | Apple Canada Store |
| Australia | A$449 | November 13, 2026 | Apple Australia Store |
| India | ₹39,900 | November 13, 2026 | Apple India Store |
| New Zealand | NZ$599 | November 13, 2026 | Apple NZ Store |
Apple has also announced availability in Singapore and through authorised resellers in South Africa. The European Union is excluded from the initial sales launch because Siri AI is not currently available in iOS in the EU. Local availability and pricing can change; confirm the checkout price with Apple or an authorised reseller.
iPhone and iPad requirements
Advertisements
Apple’s technical specifications state that HomeView requires the latest HomeView software, an iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later or an iPad running iPadOS 27.2 or later, and Wi-Fi internet access. Apple also says setup and multiuser support require a compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software.
- iPhone: iOS 27.2 or later.
- iPad: iPadOS 27.2 or later.
- Android-only household: The published setup requirement is an iPhone or iPad; Android alone does not meet it.
- Household profiles: Up to six people can be enrolled through the Home app. Each person needs an Apple Account and an iPhone or iPad running the latest software.
Siri AI, language availability and household privacy
Basic Siri AI versus personal context
Apple says HomeView includes Siri AI with broad world knowledge and richer music discovery. Those benefits are available even when a person does not have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. To use personal context—such as information from Messages, Calendar or other apps—the paired device must be Apple Intelligence-enabled, have Siri AI turned on, run the latest software and use a supported language.
Language and regional limits
- Apple says Siri AI on HomeView is available in English at launch in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.
- Apple says Canadian French-language support will arrive later through a free software update.
- HomeView is not initially sold in the European Union because Siri AI is unavailable in iOS there.
- Some Siri AI features that rely on server-side models may have daily usage limits.
Customizable expressive Siri voices
Apple’s press-release footnote lists iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro models, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro models, and iPad models with the M4 chip or later and at least 12GB of unified memory for customizable expressive Siri voices. The feature is listed as English-only. This is a narrower requirement than simply having an iPhone or iPad that can set up HomeView.
How personal information is protected
HomeView recognises up to six people and gives each an individual experience. Apple says personal content in apps such as Messages and Calendar is surfaced only when the enrolled person is recognised by face and their paired iPhone or iPad is present and has been recently unlocked. Apple’s privacy footnote describes a limited exception when the paired device disconnects from Wi-Fi but has recently been on the same network, has active cellular service, remains in the same location and has been recently unlocked.
Apple also says camera and microphone data is processed in Secure Exclaves, separate from the main HomeView software. Siri requests may be processed on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, for which Apple says request data is not stored or made accessible to Apple.
Tabletop vs wall-mounted Apple HomeView
The two models share the A18 chip, 7-inch 1088 × 1088 Liquid Retina display and 12MP Center Stage camera. The biggest practical differences are sound hardware and what is included in the box.
| Feature | Apple HomeView (Tabletop) | Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) |
|---|---|---|
| Device price | Same local-market price as tabletop (see country table above) | Same local-market price as tabletop |
| Display | 7-inch Liquid Retina, 1088 × 1088, 220 ppi; 500-nit maximum and 0.3-nit minimum brightness | Same display specifications |
| Processor and camera | A18 chip; 12MP Center Stage camera | A18 chip; 12MP Center Stage camera |
| Weight | 952.28 g (2.1 lb) | 286.35 g (0.63 lb) |
| Speakers | Two full-range drivers, down-firing woofer and dual force-cancelling passive radiators | Two full-range drivers; no tabletop woofer or passive radiators listed |
| In the box | 1.5 m USB-C cable and 30W power adapter included | Device and documentation; mount, cable and power adapter sold separately |
| Power requirement | Wired power; included adapter | Wired power; minimum 20W adapter and compatible mount required separately |
| Colours | Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink and Space Grey | Silver and Space Grey |
Choose tabletop if…
You want the speaker base, included power adapter and cable, more substantial bass hardware, and the flexibility to move the display between suitable locations.
Choose wall-mounted if…
You want a slim display on a wall or entryway. Budget separately for a compatible Schneider Home mount, USB-C cable and at least a 20W power adapter. The PoE mount is listed for a later 2027 release.
What to confirm before ordering
- Check that at least one household iPhone or iPad can run iOS/iPadOS 27.2 or later.
- Check the local Apple HomeView specification page for the apps listed in your country. App availability is not identical in every market.
- If Spotify or another third-party app is essential, treat the current virtualized demonstration as pre-launch evidence, not a retail guarantee.
- For personal Siri context, confirm that the paired device supports Apple Intelligence and that Siri AI is available in your language and region.
- For the wall-mounted model, add the compatible mount and power solution to the total cost.
- Remember that app subscriptions, iCloud+ plans and compatible smart-home accessories may be additional costs.
