GTA 6 File Size: 210 GB Reported on PS5 + Download Time Calculator
A 210 GB PS5 download for GTA 6 has been reported from PlayStation Store data, but Rockstar has not published a file size, and no Xbox size has surfaced. Below: what is confirmed and what is not, the pre-load schedule for your time zone, whether it fits on your console, and a calculator that shows how long the download will take on your connection.
Quick answer: how big is GTA 6?
On October 27, 2026, the PlayStation Store tracking account PlayStation Game Size reported a 210 GB download for the PS5 version of GTA 6. Outlets including Insider Gaming, GamesRadar+ and VideoCardz have covered it. Some headlines call it “official”, but the number comes from store backend data, not a Rockstar or Sony announcement.
What we know: pre-load starts at local midnight on November 12, 2026 and launch is November 19, 2026. What we don’t: the Xbox Series X|S size, the installed size, and whether a day-one patch adds to the 210 GB. Treat 210 GB as a planning number, not a guaranteed requirement.

Unknown. Add a guess if you want a safety margin.
Real speeds fluctuate with Wi-Fi, congestion and server limits.
Presets are usable space on an empty console. Your free space is lower.
Some US and Canadian ISPs cap monthly data. Check your plan.
Method: decimal GB (1 GB = 8,000 megabits), time = size x 8,000 / (Mbps x share of speed used). It estimates transfer time only. Installation, decompression, patches, queues and storage limits can change the real result.
What is confirmed and what is only reported

| Xbox Series X|S size | NOT KNOWN | No Xbox figure has been reported. Console builds can differ. |

| Launch on Nov 19, 2026 | OFFICIAL | Rockstar Newswire. Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. |

| Exact unlock time on Nov 19 | NOT STATED | Rockstar has given the date. Store listings are widely reported to use local midnight. |
| Day-one patch size | NOT KNOWN | Some outlets expect a launch-day update. No size is published. |
| PC version at launch | NOT LISTED | Rockstar’s platform page lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
Will GTA 6 fit on your PS5 or Xbox?
At the reported 210 GB, GTA 6 would use roughly a third of an original PS5’s usable space. For comparison, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are each around 100 to 110 GB on PS5, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War reached nearly 220 GB with all modes installed.
| Console | Usable space (empty) | Left after 210 GB |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 (825 GB SSD) | About 667 GB | About 457 GB |
| Xbox Series X (1 TB) | About 802 GB | About 592 GB |
| Xbox Series S (512 GB) | About 364 GB | About 154 GB |
Figures are for an empty console and ignore any Xbox size, which is unknown. Installed games reduce what you have. PS5 Slim and Pro models have different capacities, so check Settings, Storage on your own console.
Download size, installed size and free-space requirement
- Download size: data transferred to the console.
- Installed size: space used afterwards. It can differ.
- Free-space requirement: space the console needs while downloading, unpacking and patching. Leave extra room beyond the headline number.
Large games generally have to run from the console’s internal SSD or an approved expansion drive (a compatible M.2 SSD on PS5, a Storage Expansion Card on Xbox Series X|S), so a plain USB hard drive is not a fix for playing.
GTA 6 pre-load time by country
Rockstar says digital pre-load begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026 for anyone who has pre-ordered. Here is what local midnight equals in UTC for major regions. Stores sometimes set one time for a whole store region, so confirm the exact time in your PlayStation or Xbox store.
| Region (time zone) | Pre-load opens | Same moment in UTC |
|---|---|---|
| US East: New York, Atlanta, Miami (EST) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 05:00 |
| US Central: Chicago, Dallas (CST) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 06:00 |
| US Mountain: Denver (MST) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 07:00 |
| US Pacific: Los Angeles, Seattle (PST) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 08:00 |
| Canada: Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg (UTC-5) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 05:00 |
| Canada: Calgary, Edmonton (UTC-6) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 06:00 |
| Canada: Vancouver (UTC-7) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 07:00 |
| UK and Ireland: London, Dublin (GMT) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 12, 00:00 |
| Australia: Sydney, Melbourne (AEDT) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 11, 13:00 |
| Australia: Brisbane (AEST) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 11, 14:00 |
| Australia: Perth (AWST) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 11, 16:00 |
| New Zealand: Auckland (NZDT) | Nov 12, 12:00 AM | Nov 11, 11:00 |
Time zones assume standard offsets in effect on November 12, 2026. Alberta, Manitoba and BC no longer change clocks on November 1, so they keep their year-round offsets.
Buying a boxed copy
The physical version contains a download code, not a disc, so you still download all of it. Rockstar says boxed copies are expected to be available from November 12 and codes can be used as soon as you get them to pre-load. Code redemption follows your platform account’s region, so buy from a retailer in the same country as your account.
Editions and price
Rockstar lists a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition, and Standard owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade later as digital content. Store trackers report $79.99 and $99.99 in the US and £69.99 and £89.99 in the UK, with other countries priced separately, so check your own store. Digital purchases before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. Whether the Ultimate upgrade changes the download size is not published.
GTA 6 download time by internet speed
These times assume 85% of your stated speed and no day-one patch. They are planning estimates, not measured results.
| Speed | 150 GB | 210 GB (reported) | 250 GB |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 Mbps | 15 h 41 m | 21 h 58 m | 26 h 9 m |
| 50 Mbps | 7 h 51 m | 10 h 59 m | 13 h 4 m |
| 100 Mbps | 3 h 55 m | 5 h 29 m | 6 h 32 m |
| 300 Mbps | 1 h 18 m | 1 h 50 m | 2 h 11 m |
| 500 Mbps | 47 m | 1 h 6 m | 1 h 18 m |
| 1,000 Mbps (1 Gbps) | 24 m | 33 m | 39 m |
Formula: time in seconds = GB x 8,000 / (Mbps x 0.85). Add the day-one patch, queue delays and any Wi-Fi slowdowns on top.
GTA 6 file size on Xbox Series X|S
The 210 GB report is for PS5 only. No Xbox figure has been reported, and Rockstar’s past releases show that PlayStation and Xbox builds can differ. Outlets expect it to land in a similar range, but that is an expectation, not data.
Is GTA 6 676.7 GB on Xbox?
No. A screenshot claiming an “official” 676.7 GB Xbox size first circulated in late 2025 and is a doctored Xbox Store page. Trackers that checked the real listing report only a small placeholder package of about 329 MB, which is not the game.
Xbox Series S
The Series S has about 364 GB of usable space on an empty console. If the Xbox build is near the PS5 figure it will fit, but with little room left for other games. Plan to free space or add a Storage Expansion Card.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC at launch?
Rockstar’s platform page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no official PC release date or PC storage requirement, so any PC file size you see online is speculation.
How to prepare before pre-load on November 12
- Check free space: PS5: Settings, Storage. Xbox: Settings, System, Storage devices. Aim for well above 210 GB free.
- Clear room now: remove games you are not playing. You can reinstall them later.
- Test your real speed: run a speed test on the console itself, at the time you will download.
- Use a cable if you can: Ethernet is steadier than Wi-Fi for a 200 GB-plus download.
- Check your data cap: if your ISP caps monthly data, plan around it.
- Pre-order or redeem your code early: pre-load only starts once your digital pre-order or boxed code is in your account.
- Re-check the size on November 12: the download queue will show the real number and any free-space warning.
Do not buy a new SSD only because of an unconfirmed number. Check your own free space and wait for the real listing.
