How much does dbt Cloud cost in 2026?

dbt Cloud, now presented by dbt as the dbt platform, is priced by developer seats plus usage. Developer is free for one seat with 3,000 successful models a month. Starter is $100 per user per month for up to five developer seats, including 15,000 successful models and 5,000 queried metrics, then $0.01 per extra successful model. Enterprise and Enterprise+ are custom-priced and include 100,000 models and 20,000 queried metrics. Warehouse compute is billed separately by your data platform.

Allocations are from dbt’s published pricing. dbt does not publish Enterprise prices or an Enterprise overage rate. Enterprise+ adds unlimited projects and extra security controls. Some 2026 third-party guides also describe a “Business” or “Team” tier between Starter and Enterprise (reported around $1,200/developer/month with the production Semantic Layer, dbt Explorer and SSO); this calculator does not model it, since it could not be confirmed on dbt’s own pricing page as of this build. How the estimate is calculated

Starter = $100 x seats (max 5) + max(0, models – 15,000) x $0.01 Enterprise = your seat price x seats + max(0, models – 100,000) x your negotiated rate (if entered) Discount = applied to seats + model overage only Metrics = max(0, metrics – included) x metric overage estimate Total = discounted subtotal + metrics

A Starter team of 5 running 35,000 successful models pays $500 in seats plus 20,000 extra models x $0.01 = $200, or $700 a month before warehouse costs. Only the seat price, the included allocations and the Starter $0.01 overage rate are dbt’s published numbers. Everything else on this page is your input or a labeled estimate.

What counts as usage

A successful model build is a model materialization successfully completed in a billable dbt execution context. Scheduler, CI and API-triggered deployment runs can contribute to usage. Whether development-environment runs count depends on your setup, so verify against dbt’s usage reporting instead of counting every run. The allocation is a shared pool for the account, not per seat.

dbt also sells separate usage-based products such as dbt State and dbt Wizard, and Copilot usage is metered by plan. This calculator does not model those.

Enterprise pricing

dbt lists Enterprise and Enterprise+ as custom pricing and does not publish a seat price. Third-party procurement data such as Vendr reports wide variation, with mid-sized 10 to 25 seat deployments commonly around $30,000 to $90,000 a year. Treat those as market observations and use your own quote.

dbt Core vs dbt Cloud

dbt Core is free and open source under Apache 2.0 with no seat limits or usage caps. You provide orchestration, scheduling and CI/CD with tools like Airflow, Dagster or Prefect, which moves cost from a subscription to engineering time and infrastructure. dbt Cloud makes sense when a team wants a managed IDE, hosted scheduling, CI and documentation without maintaining that stack.
